Paga is delighted to announce that it has partnered with Aspilos foundation to sponsor the Abocoders project. Abocoders is an organization that works towards the provision of secure and sustainable livelihood for women in Nothern Nigeria, with an emphasis on software development as a means of empowerment.

The project seeks to grow a community of successful female techpreneurs with digital literacy and software development skills to provide them access to opportunities and the benefits of a rapidly evolving digital world.

With the largest agent network in Nigeria, made up of over 18,000 agents widespread across all 36 states in Nigeria and 10 million users (whoop!) and counting, Paga is making life possible for millions of Nigerians — enabling them to achieve all the little things that make a big difference in their lives daily.

“It is very important for us to make an impact in our community and extend our dedication to powering real and actionable change in Nigeria beyond our mission at Paga,” stated Daniel Oparison, Head of Marketing. “We are very excited to sponsor the education of young girls and be a vehicle for women who desire to enter STEM-related fields and build careers in tech. We are also looking at the possibility of having them intern with us for a few months afterwards.”

The sponsorship from Paga will enable Abocoders to admit 5 young women into the AboCoders academies in Niger and Kaduna states as well as provide post-training internship placements and other opportunities.

“There’s an incredibly strong alignment between our two organizations’ commitments to leveraging digital technology to enable people to live better lives.” says Simi Olusola of Aspilos Foundation. “We are therefore excited to have Paga as one of the AboCoders champions and together make a difference in the lives of underserved and unserved populations.”
